It’s been a big year for Dillon Batsel on the golf course.

Batsel was named the player of the year by PGA Alberta last Saturday. Batsel finished his golf season in first place among PGA Alberta golfers on their Order of Merit and money lists.

Batsel also won two of Inglewood Golf and Country Club’s GSH series and the PGA Alberta championship held at River Bend Golf and Country Club in Red Deer. He finished within the top five at three other events this season including the PGA of Canada’s Assistant’s Championship at Winston Golf Club in Calgary.

The Medicine Hat product has played competitive golf since 2004 and received a Division 1 scholarship to Jacksonville University, where he played for four years. Batsel has been a golf coach with the Medicine Hat College Rattlers since 2019-20. The Rattlers men’s golf team recently won bronze at Canadian College Athletics Association championships in Windsor, Oct. 12-15.
