Medicine Hat finished division play with a close 3-2 loss in a rematch with the Blaze. Mason and Bree Becker would pick up goals in the loss as the Gators finished in second place of their tournament division with a 2-2 record.

The Gators advanced to the final for a third matchup against the Blaze. Medicine Hat would take the game and the gold with a 6-4 win. Mason, who was named the player of the gold medal game, picked up another two goals in the win for her seventh of the tournament. Starner, Rose, Amanda Robinson and Becker added a goal a piece in the tournament winner.

Rheagyn Heinrichs was in net for the Gators in all five of their tournament games. The Gators will take part in the Ring of Fire Tournament this weekend in Airdrie.

U14B

The Medicine Hat U14B Impact hosted the South Calgary Karma at the Kinplex Sunday for a battle of the top two teams from the U14B division. The Impact and Karma would tie the first game 3-3 with two goals from Leighton Wright and one from Erika Want.

In the second game, the Impact played for the win, as they beat the Karma 4-1. Wright, Sophia Stock, Kenzie Provost and Jordy Provost all picked up goals in the win. Sadie Berstad was between the pipes in the victory for Medicine Hat.

The Impact look to continue their great play this weekend when they compete in the Airdrie Ring of Fire Tournament.

Game two was a closer contest between the Surge and Rockies. The Hatters switched all their defenders to forward positions and won by a final score of 11-3. The Surge were ahead 5-2 at the half off of a Tia van Maarion hat trick. The Surge’s momentum couldn’t be stopped in the second half and Sloane Berstad led the way with three goals.

The Open B Smash also travelled to Regina to compete in the Elite A/AA Tournament this weekend in the Open A Division. With only three entries, the format was a double round robin with no final. The Smash ended the competition with a 2-2 record.

On Saturday morning, Smash defeated the Regina Jets 5-2. On Saturday night, the Smash fell 4-8 to the BP Elite.

Sunday morning was a second encounter with the Regina Jets, again the Smash came away with a 10-6 victory. In the last encounter, Smash lost a hard battle with BP Elite, losing 6-4.
