SAHA rallies to seven straight victories

South Alberta Hockey Academy’s U18 male prep squad rallied to seven straight victories with a trio of wins this weekend – pushing the Canadian Sport School Hockey League team to 10-3-0 on the year.

SAHA picked up a 3-2 shootout win over Northern Alberta Xtreme Friday, a 4-1 victory over OHA Edmonton Saturday and a 4-3 overtime win over Edge School on Sunday.

Dayden Collier and Andrew Basha scored Friday, then Basha put the game away with the shootout winner. Aidan Oiring also scored in the shootout.

Brock Lott stopped 25 shots then turned away 2-of-3 in the shootout for the win.

Shane Smith led Saturday’s offence with a pair of goals, while Roman Cherniak had a goal and an assist, Elias Eisenbarth had two helpers and Basha rounded out the scoring.

Zack Zahara stopped 16 shots in net for the win.

Oiring kept the winning streak alive Sunday by cashing in the overtime winner. Elijah Anderson had a goal and an assist, while Cherniak and Matthew MacPherson added individual tallies to round out the scoring.

Lott stopped 28 shots to secure the victory.

SAHA returns to action next weekend with games against NAX and OHA on Nov. 20 and 21, respectively.

SAHA’s U18 female prep team (0-4-0) will play four games in four days this weekend, starting Thursday against Okanagan.
