The Medicine Hat U16 Goal Diggers cruised to back-to-back victories over the South Calgary Emo Nemos on Saturday, 9-3 and 10-5.

In game one, the Goal Diggers built a 6-2 lead at the halfway mark before skating away with the win. Kasey Martin and Mackenzie Tindall both led the Diggers with a pair of goals each while Karly Stennick, Brooklyn Schlenker, Grace Ammann, Jordan Weisgerber and Avery Weisgerber rounded out the scoring with one goal a piece. Kyree Stern Rebmann picked up the win between the pipes.

The Goal Diggers come out quickly in the second game, scoring in the first 30 seconds on their way to a 7-2 lead at the half. The second was all about the defense as the Goal Diggers faced three 5-on-3 penalties, but killed all three.

Tindall led the way with four goals while Kasey Martin had two of her own. Jaida Waldagger, Jordan Weisgerber, Sofie Kerr, and Avery Weisgerber each had a goal in the win. Lindsy Bechtold came away with the win in net.

The next action for the Goal diggers is Nov. 12 when they travel to Airdrie for the Ring of Fire Tournament.

U19A

The U19A Gators played the Bow View Bruins in a double header at the Kinplex last Sunday, falling 6-2 and 5-4.

Marley Rose got the Gators on the score board early in the first game and Dimitria Karamanos added another goal in the second half but it was not enough to beat Bow view in the first matchup.

The second game against the Bruins was a much closer battle, as the score was 3-2 for the Bruins after the first period. Preslee Starner and Allison Mason accounted for Medicine Hat’s two first period goals to bring them within one at the half. Andi Suhai and Kylie Kallenberger scored one goal each in the second half to bring the Gators close but they could not overcome the Bruins.

The Gators will travel to Regina this weekend for the Regina Elite A/AA Ringette Tournament.

U12B

The U12B Surge were also at home in the Kinplex over the weekend as they swept the Strathmore Ice Breakers in doubleheader action, 14-6 and 8-5.

The first half of game one was a fast-paced shootout with six goals from the Surge, all by different forwards, and four goals from the Ice Breakers. The game took off in the second half with a hat trick from Sloane Berstad to help the Surge to a 14-6 victory.

Game two followed two hours later, with another Surge hat trick, this time from forward Breana Lanuk. Lacey Gibney added her second goal of the day in the win.

The Ice Breakers came on strong at the start of the second half with three quick goals, coming within one goal of the Surge’s lead. The Surge opted for a time out and a goalie change, before scoring three more goals en route to the win.

They hit the road Saturday for a doubleheader against the Cochrane Rockies.
