The Medicine Hat Tigers announced Saturday they have traded forward Caleb Willms to the Victoria Royals for a conditional sixth round pick in the 2024 WHL draft.

The 19-year-old signed with Medicine Hat during the 2018-19 season and has appeared in 52 games for the Orange and Black, notching 5 goals and 10 assists over parts of four seasons. The Cochrane product dressed in seven of the Tigers eight games this season and contributed two assists before the deal.

Tigers GM & Head Coach Willie Desjardins said in a media release, “Caleb is a great kid on and off the ice. Unfortunately, injuries have slowed his progress. We thought it would be best for Caleb to get a fresh start with Victoria. Caleb and his parents are great, we want to thank the Willms’ family and wish Caleb all the best moving forward.”

Medicine Hat’s next action is Saturday night in Edmonton as the Tigers face the Oil Kings for the second time this season. The Tabbies beat Edmonton 3-2 in a shootout on Oct. 9. Puck drops at 7 p.m..
