Abdul Kaiwen cringes in anguish as he falls just short of a rushing touchdown for the Vikings Friday night. He still had reasons to celebrate just minutes later as the Vikings beat the Brooks Buffalos 28-6 at the Methanex Bowl.

The Vikings had themselves a night on Friday.
Crescent Heights hosted Brooks Composite High at the Methanex Bowl and won 28-6 over the Buffalos. The game was capped off with a pick-6 for the Vikings to secure the victory.
For head coach Sean Davis, the win wasn’t guaranteed from the start but he was happy with the result.
“We didn’t start out all that great. We started slow, it’s kind of our Achilles’ heel this year a little bit,” Davis said.
“But the kids came out in the second half and played Vikings football just like we asked them to, just like we coach them to. We’re very happy with the result.”
The Vikings were coming off of a bye week after winning the Boksteyn Bowl against the McCoy Colts back on Sept. 2. Having a week off let the Vikings get some rest and prepare for their matchup with the Buffalos.
“We got healthy, we were a little banged up to begin with and we put ourselves in a position to be successful tonight and we’re happy we got away with the win,” he said.
For Davis, there are still some things the Vikings will have to iron out of their game before they face off against the Hat High Hawks next Friday.
“We’ve got to keep building on the good and we have a lot of work to do,” he said. “We have lots of little things to fix, break down some game film on Monday and hopefully things are better next weekend.”
The Vikings and Hawks hit the Methanex Bowl Friday at 7:30 p.m.
