Cubs open camp next weekend

After having parts of the past two seasons cancelled due to COVID-19, the Medicine Hat Cubs are set to return to the ice for training camp next weekend at Redcliff Arena.

The action gets underway Friday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. with a Team Orange practice, followed by another session for Team Black at 8:15 p.m.

A game between the squads will be played on Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by a goalie session at 11:45 a.m.

Saturday afternoon will open with a Canadian Mental Health seminar for players.

“We can’t be afraid to talk about mental health,” head coach Randy Wong said in an email to the News.

Another game will be played Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Sunday will feature practices for Orange and Black at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., respectively, followed a game to close out the camp at 1 p.m.
