Three all-Hat finals highlight weekend at drag strip

Medicine Hatters took the top two spots in three separate events this weekend at the Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association strip.

Roy Valk defeated Ashley Zeller in Saturday’s Sportsman final – followed by fellow Hatter Dean Adie in third. Todd Fleck bested Brian Nagel for the Super Pro victory – while Hatter Tanner Gaetz and Calgary’s Larry Peters were eliminated in the semis – and Zach Toth beat Dave Toth to win the Pro Bike event.

Medicine Hat’s Dale Figley won the Junior Street event, while Dunmore’s Gray Schaan settled for runner up to Raymond’s Ryder Harrison in the Junior Thunder final. Fellow Hatter Ty Jones took second to Swift Current’s Rayce Schultz in the Junior Lightning final.

Also Saturday, High River’s Monty Beagle defeated Rockyview County’s Chris Minhinnett for the Pro victory.

Dunmore’s Peyton Wilk won Friday’s Street event by defeating Medicine Hat’s Ryan Siminiuk in the final. Medicine Hat’s Keith Easton fell in the Friday Night Bike final to Calgary’s Adam Hettler.
