Ryan Hodgins wins MHGCC championship

Ryan Hodgins is the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club’s 2021 champion.

Hodgins shot a weekend-low 69 on Sunday to clinch the club title with a five-stroke edge on runner-up Mitch Kurtz.

After taking a one-stroke lead on Kurtz with a 72 in Saturday’s opening round, Hodgins took control of the leaderboard on Sunday to close out his weekend at 72-69-141.

Kurtz repeated his 73 in Sunday’s final round to finish second at 146, while Sam Bratvold went 74-73-147 to finish in third.

Becky Martin shot an 80-73-153 to take home the ladies championship. Oi Batsel finished second with a 93-82-175.

Kelly Risling clinched the senior men’s title with a 78-71-149, taking the win with a two-stroke edge on runner-up Bob Sailer (79-72-151).

Jean Nitchke won the senior ladies title with an 88-84-172, followed by Julie Cranston at 90-84-174.

The junior championship went to Josh Burzminski, who shot a 91-92-183. RJ Reimer took second with a 108-110-218.
