Upset at lawn bowling club highlights week in singles league

Mike Gilchrist pulled off an upset over reigning champion Stephen Bezanson to highlight this weekend’s singles league action at the Medicine Hat Lawn Bowling Club.

Despite starting the season at 0-2, Gilchrist (1-2) stole an 11-10 victory over Bezanson (1-1) Monday for his first win of the summer.

Curt Moll (2-1) also faced off against Barb Moll (1-2) and captured a 16-5 win.

Wes Bresee had the week off and remains at 1-1 on the season.

Pairs league action featured Frank Buck and Joyce-Ann Bacon besting Mike Gilchrist and Beth Davies 12-6, while Wes Bresee and Jean Bresee secured a 13-4 win over Bill Cuthill and Joan Theriault.

Wes and Jean Bresee now sit tied for first in the standings with Barb and Curt Moll at 2-0 after three weeks, followed by Buck and Bacon (2-1), then Gilchrist and Davies (0-2) and Cuthill and Theriault (0-3).
