Tigers’ Krebs drafted to Capitals

By Medicine Hat News on July 27, 2021.

Dru Krebs became the second member of the Medicine Hat Tigers to be drafted to the Washington Capitals in as many years when the 2018 Stanley Cup champions called his name in the sixth round of Saturday’s NHL Entry Draft at 176th overall.

The 18-year-old defenceman joins Tabby goaltender Garin Bjorklund in the Capitals system. Krebs is also the second Tiger to be drafted this year following forward Cole Sillinger, who went 12th overall to the Columbus Blue Jackets in Friday’s first round, and the second member of his family to be drafted after 20-year-old Peyton went to the Vegas Golden Knights at 17th overall in 2019.

Krebs racked up 11 assists and a plus-4 rating over 23 Western Hockey League games this season while helping Medicine Hat achieve a 14-8-0-1 record.
