Skolarchuk takes two checkered flags at Speedway

By Medicine Hat News on July 14, 2021.

Ethan Skolarchuk claimed a pair of checkered flags at the Medicine Hat Speedway on Friday and Saturday, becoming the lone driver to win both race days on the track’s fan appreciation weekend.

The Mini-Cup car driver edged out Sebastian Beaupre and Connor Skolarchuk, respectively, to win Saturday’s main event, then bested Connor and Noah Banman on Sunday for the dual victory.

Trevor Neigum won the Friday’s Davis GMC Elite Street main event by defeating Les Neigum and Alf Hieb, but Les earned some revenge Saturday by swapping places with Trevor atop the podium.

Similar situations unfolded in the Just Smok’n Rumblebees class and the Relay/SJ Trucking Baby Grands. Kevin Hieb took Friday’s Rumblebee main event over Steve Soldaat and Levi Sergeant before Soldaat bounced back for Saturday’s win ahead of Hieb and EJ Guest.

In the Baby Grands, Dave Deschner took home Friday’s top spot ahead of Rick Jondreau and Dennis Masse, but Jondreau rallied for Saturday’s win, pushing Deschner to second in front of Philip Baird.

Racing returns to the Medicine Hat Speedway Aug. 6-7 for the Darryl Adams Memorial weekend.
