Medicine Hat Tigers captain Ryan Chyzowski picked up back-to-back awards from his team this week, claiming the Gerard Moyer Leadership Award and sharing the title of hardest working player with rookie forward Ashton Ferster. Chyzowski took home the Gerard Moyer Leadership Award Tuesday after racking up 11 goals and 18 assists and missing the scoresheet only six times over the course of the 23-game season. Ferster competed in 10 games as a rookie with Medicine Hat this year. Overage forward Brett Kemp picked up his second accolade last week with the team’s Three Stars Award, earning eight top-three nods over the course of the shortened season and finishing with the most points on the team at 12 goals and 19 assists. Sophomore defenceman Dru Krebs earned the Scholastic Player of the Year Award, while Corson Hopwo took home the Community Service Award just a few days after claiming the Most Goals Award with 14. Forward Lukas Svejkovsky and goaltender Garin Bjorklund shared Medicine Hat’s Unsung Hero Award. Svejkovsky compiled 12 goals and 10 assists over 20 games, while Bjorklund logged a career-best 2.60 goals against average and a .921 save percentage with a 10-7-1 record. The Tigers continue their awards presentations this morning at 10 a.m. with the Rookie of the Year Award. 8
