Tigers sign 15-year-old forward Andrew Basha to standard player agreement

By Medicine Hat News on May 18, 2021.

The Medicine Hat Tigers have signed 15-year-old forward Andrew Basha to a standard Western Hockey League player agreement, the team announced Monday.

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Calgary product was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 bantam draft with the 105th overall pick. While he was held to three assists in just six games with the Calgary Royals U18 AAA squad this season, Basha finished just shy of the two-points-per-game mark with the Royals’ U15 AAA squad last year, netting 24 goals and 33 assists in 33 games.

“Andrew is a forward with good vision and a nose for the net,” Tigers director of player personnel Bobby Fox said in a team release. “He’s strong in small areas, slipping checks and demonstrating excellent puck skills. He competes hard and is quick on the forecheck.”
