By Medicine Hat News on April 10, 2021.

The Medicine Hat Tigers have suspended all team activities after a COVID-19 case was identified within the cohort of the Calgary Hitmen on Friday afternoon. The Tigers have been listed as a close contact after playing the Hitmen on Monday.

The suspension of team activities has postponed the Tigers (9-3-0-1) upcoming three-game series with the Lethbridge Hurricanes (3-6-2-0) which was scheduled to start on Friday night.

“The WHL is working in consultation with Alberta Health regarding the matter concerning the Calgary Hitmen and Medicine Hat Tigers,” the WHL said in a release. ” … Pending determination of close contacts and further test results, the WHL will provide further information.”

There have been no positive COVID-19 test results within the Tigers organization, according to the WHL.

Calgary’s games against the Red Deer Rebels have also been suspended this weekend and a three-game series between the Rebels and Hurricanes has been scheduled in its place.

The Tigers aren’t scheduled to hit the ice again until April 23 against the Rebels (2-9-2-0) pending any rescheduling of games.
