Tigers aim for return to win column tonight in Lethbridge

By Medicine Hat News on April 9, 2021.

The Medicine Hat Tigers will look to return to the win column when they enter the Enmax Centre to face the rival Lethbridge Hurricanes tonight at 7 p.m.

After opening a five-game winning streak with three straight against the Hurricanes (3-6-2-0), the Tigers (9-3-0-1) fell just short of making it six in Monday’s 5-4 shootout loss to the Calgary Hitmen (6-6-2-0).

This weekend’s three-game set will be the second and final series between the Highway 3 rivals in the Western Hockey League’s pandemic-shortened 24-game season.

Cole Clayton leads the Tigers in points with 22 in 13 games — five points off the lead set by Winnipeg Ice captain Peyton Krebs (27 points in 14 games). Fifteen-year-old Regina Pats forward Connor Bedard, sits just behind Krebs with 26 points in 14 games.

Corson Hopwo leads the Tigers in goals with 10 – two back of Edmonton Oil Kings forward Dylan Guenther for the league lead.

Over in Lethbridge, forward Justin Hall leads the Hurricanes with eight goals and five assists in 11 contests, while defenceman Alex Cotton has a pair of goals with 10 helpers.

The three-game set between Medicine Hat and Lethbridge will continue Saturday at Co-op Place and Sunday back in Lethbridge. Both games are scheduled for a 7 p.m. puck drop.
