Lukas Svejkovsky is building momentum at the Memorial eCup. The 19-year-old forward – tasked with representing the Medicine Hat Tigers in the 64-team e-sports hockey tournament – cruised to his second straight lopsided victory Sunday with a commanding 5-1 win over Saskatoon Blades defenceman Rhett Rhinehart. Svejkovsky – a fourth-round Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick coming off a 38-point season – has outscored his first two opponents 12-2. The Point Roberts, Wash., product opened his tournament with a 7-1 win over special guest competitor and Tigers alumnus Zach Hodder. The victory pushes Svejkovsky into the eCup’s Sweet 16. He’ll face off against Hamilton Bulldogs goaltender Zachary Roy next week. Former Tigers defenceman Trevor Longo – traded to the Giants in the deal that sent Svejkovsky to the Gas City – also reached the third round this weekend with a 4-2 victory over Oshawa Generals forward Allan McShane. He’ll face North Bay Battalion forward Luke Moncada in the third round. The eventual champion of the tournament – to be crowned Dec. 17 – will be awarded with a $1,000 donation to the charity of their choice. 7
