Medicine Hat Tigers forward Lukas Svejkovsky will be in the limelight when the virtual puck drops on the Memorial eCup this Saturday. The 18-year-old Point Roberts, Wash., product will be the first to face off against one of the e-sports hockey tournament’s four special guests in WHL graduate Zach Hodder – who spent 35 games with the Tigers in 2012-13. The game will be streamed live via Facebook Live and Twitch on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. The remaining guest entries are junior hockey analyst Sam Cosentino, multi-platform reporter Andy Mailly-Pressoir and two-time World Women’s U18 Championship gold medallist Erin Ambrose. The 64-team, single elimination tournament will also feature one representative from each of the Canadian Hockey League’s 60 clubs. Former Tigers defenceman Trevor Longo will play for the Vancouver Giants, opening his tournament Saturday at 5:25 p.m. against Max McCue of the London Knights. Longo was traded to Vancouver in the deal that made Svejkovsky a Tiger. The Memorial eCup is set to run through Dec. 17. The winner of the tournament will be awarded $1,000 to the charity of their choice. For a full first-round schedule and more information on the tournament, visit whl.ca. 10
