CSP ski swap next weekend

By Medicine Hat News on October 20, 2020.

The Canadian Ski Patrol’s Palliser Zone will be hosting its second annual ski swap next weekend at the South Ridge YMCA.

Skiers looking to get rid of old equipment can stop by the YMCA on Oct. 23 from 5-9 p.m. to register their gear for Saturday’s sale – which runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is open to anyone looking to purchase some new or used gear, from downhill and cross-country to snowboards and other equipment, with a commission going to support the CSP’s Palliser Zone.

CSP is comprised of highly trained volunteers, “dedicated to promoting ski safety and providing first aid and rescue services to skiers,” says an October release. The nationally registered charity provides its services at Hidden Valley Ski Resort in Elkwater, as well as through community events such as Conquer the Volley, Battle Creek Showdown, Conquer the Coulee, Elkwater Mile High Tri and Futterwacken Trail Run.

“This is one of our major fundraising events for our zone,” reads the release. “Proceeds from the ski swap stay in the community and go towards the purchase of first aid and rescue equipment as well as the safety and education programs of the Canadian Ski Patrol in Palliser Zone.”
