MacPherson signs with ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers

By Medicine Hat News on October 6, 2020.

Dylan MacPherson will continue his on-ice career with the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.

The Nailers – located in Wheeling, West Virginia – announced last week they had signed the Redcliff-raised Medicine Hat Tigers alumnus for the upcoming season.

MacPherson spent 186 games on the blue line in Medicine Hat, from 2016 to 2019, racking up six goals, 37 assists and a plus-12 rating over a tenure of three-plus seasons.

MacPherson signed an American Hockey League contract with the Springfield Thunderbirds – affiliate to the NHL’s St. Louis Blues – last year. The 22-year-old blueliner went on to play in two games with the Thunderbirds, spending the remaining 54 games of the campaign with the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits and collecting 17 points with a plus-4 rating.

The Nailers – a Pittsburgh Penguins affiliate – finished sixth in the ECHL’s Central Division during last year’s pandemic-shortened season with a 24-30-5-0 record.
