Tigers’ Svejkovsky named to U.S. national junior team evaluation camp roster

By Medicine Hat News on October 2, 2020.

Lukas Svejkovsky will have a shot at earning a place on Team U.S.A.’s at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton after being named to the U.S. national junior team’s evaluation camp Tuesday.

Svejkovsky was also invited to compete at the World Junior Summer Showcase prior to its cancellation in July.

The 18-year-old right-winger was traded to the Tigers in a blockbuster deal with the Vancouver Giants last December. After recording five goals and five assists over 18 games with the Giants to open the season, Svejkovsky closed out his campaign in Medicine Hat with 13 goals and 15 assists over a 34-game span.

The 5-foot-9, 158-pound product of Point Roberts, Wash., is one of just two Western Hockey League players to earn a place on the evaluation camp roster alongside reigning Dub goaltender of the year Dustin Wolf, of the Everett Silvertips.

The evaluation camp will be held Oct. 8-13 in Plymouth, Mich.
