Hellers in the mix for a sixth Hat Open mixed doubles title

Tracy and Calvin Heller will be playing for a sixth consecutive Medicine Hat Open mixed doubles title when they step onto the court against Linda Norris and Boris Holan for Saturday’s 6 p.m. final at Medicine Hat Tennis Club.

The husband-and-wife duo has won each of the last five championships, and punched their ticket to this year’s final by defeating CoraLee Riehl and Jehan Marcos in a 6-2, 7-5 semifinal Thursday.

Norris and Holan earned their way into the final with a narrow 7-5, 7-6 win over Sandy McIntosh and Imran Ahmed Thursday.

In the intermediate division, Dawn and Rob Olson will take on Gabi and Brock Hale in a 4 p.m. final Saturday.

The Olsons defeated Rocheal and Mark Howes to reach the championship game, while the Hales topped Lily Laurent and Noel Thomas in the semis.
