Edwards takes two at Speedway

By Medicine Hat News on August 18, 2020.

Dale Edwards drove his No. 10 car to back-to-back Baby Grand victories over the weekend at the Medicine Hat Speedway.

Racing in front of limited spectators, Edwards edged out runner-up Doug Voisey on both Saturday and Sunday, while Rick Jondreau took third Saturday, and Dave Deschner snagged the spot Sunday.

In the Elite Street stock, Alf Hieb took the checkered flag in Saturday’s main event ahead of Les Neigum and Ross Statham, then Mitch Stovka won Sunday’s main event with Neigum and Statham repeating their finishes from the previous evening.

Ethan Skolarchuk took top spot in Saturday’s Mini Cup main event, beating out Aydin Banman and Connor Skolarchuk. On Sunday it was Banman who battled for the best finish, followed by Ethan and Connor, respectively.

Kevin Hieb took the Rumblebees victory Saturday ahead of Brittney Young and Dennis Schlemko, but Young rallied to switch spots with Hieb in Sunday’s main event. Schlemko finished in third place on both race days.

The Speedway has opted to have daily winners as opposed to a points race. The next race date has yet to be determined.
