Plenty to figure out tonight at Cubs’ public AGM

By Medicine Hat News on August 6, 2020.

The future direction of the Medicine Hat Cubs will be up for discussion at the local junior B hockey team’s annual general meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at First Assembly of God church on Ninth Street SE.

The Cubs announced in June that they would not be icing a team in the Heritage Junior Hockey League this season due to diminished sponsorship revenues brought on by COVID-19 – leaving several returning players without a team for the potential upcoming campaign. However, the Cubs revised that stance last month, with president Richard Fritzler stating the team would be open to possible fundraising methods to help keep the team afloat this season, and pointing to tonight’s AGM as a pivotal date in that decision-making process.

The AGM is open to the public, and will feature nominations for board member positions as well as access to the team’s financial statement and discussions on how to move forward with a 2020-21 season. Those attending are asked to use the church’s Fourth Avenue SE entrance.
