Players used their league benefits

By Medicine Hat News on May 13, 2020.

Thirty-one Medicine Hat Tigers alumni put their Western Hockey League scholarships to good use this school year.

For each season played in the WHL, players are awarded with a one-year post-secondary scholarship, which includes tuition, required textbooks and compulsory fees.

A total of 402 WHL graduates used their scholarships this year.

Medicine Hat’s 31 alumni were spread out over 20 schools across Canada and the United States.

The University of Alberta hosted the most, with seven – Chad Butcher, Trevor Cox, Zach Fischer, Ryan Jevne, Clayton Kirichenko, Steven Owre and Cole Sanford – while three former Tigers in Kyle Becker, Jordan Henderson and Jake Morrissey spent their school year at the University of British Columbia.
