Chyzowski and Kemp were named the team's annual unsung heros via social media Saturday.
After combining for 146 points over the course of 62 games – the bulk of which came on a line together – Ryan Chyzowski and Brett Kemp have been named the Medicine Hat Tigers’ unsung heroes of the season.
The team announced the award through social media Saturday, continuing a 13-day campaign to reveal each of the team’s annual accolades.
Kemp finished 10th in the Western Hockey League’s scoring race after racking up 30 goals and 47 assists for 77 points.
Chyzowski closed out his season with 34 goals and 35 assists – both career highs despite a shortened campaign – to finish 20th in league scoring.
Chyzowski also struck 13 times on the power play this season, while Kemp followed up with 12 on the man advantage.
The pair of forwards recorded their 100th career assists one day apart back in March. Both become overagers next season.
Hamblin takes first star
Medicine Hat Tigers captain James Hamblin picked up his third team award of the week Sunday when the team announced him as the winner of the annual Three Stars Award.
The overage centre regularly worked his way onto the nightly three stars list by compiling 36 goals – including five on the power play and three shorthanded — with 56 assists.
Hamblin’s 92 points left him third in the WHL scoring race, and first in the Eastern Conference after having his regular season cut short by five games due to the spread of COVID-19.
The Tigers will announce their annual Gerard Moyer Leadership Award, sponsored by Lanny McDonald, this morning via social media.
