Rattlers announce soccer, golf awards

By Medicine Hat News on April 9, 2020.

The Medicine Hat Rattlers began announcing their annual athletic award recipients through video tributes on social media this week, starting with golf and soccer.

The Rattlers kicked things off by honouring the golf team Monday. Chase Broderson took home the Players’ Choice Award after finishing third at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference championships, ninth at the North Regional and eighth at the South Regional to help Medicine Hat earn a spot at nationals. Brady Resch was named most improved and Derek Whitson took home the Rattler Award.

Men’s and women’s soccer took the spotlight Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Women’s midfielder Jadyn Fode was given the Players’ Choice Award after racking up four goals and an assist over the course of 12 games. Midfielder McKenzie Griffith earned the nod for most improved, while defender Kaylei Hole took home the Rattler Award.

On the men’s side, forward Abdou Raouf Mohamed’s 11-goal season led him to the Player’s Choice Award, while defender Joao Noble was named most improved and midfielder Bismarck Gonzalez picked up the Rattler Award.

Both of Medicine Hat’s soccer teams narrowly missed out on the post-season.

The Rattlers will announce their volleyball award recipients Thursday and Friday.
