The first bare-knuckled boxing event in Medicine Hat has been postponed a month due to coronavirus. Fight Night 14, which was to take place May 2 at Canalta Centre, has been pushed back to June 13 according to its promoter on social media. Z Promotions, which last ran an event in the city in 2017, had continued to heavily promote the event this past week and announced a card featuring seven fights: four mixed martial arts and three bare knuckle boxing. However, with no gatherings of more than 50 people allowed in Alberta as of Tuesday, with no end to the pandemic measures in sight, Fight Night couldn’t have taken place. A post on Fight Night’s Facebook page Tuesday evening stated they planned to “continue without fans in attendance,” however the number of staff, fighters, judges, and media crew necessary to stage the event would be more than 50. Jared Kilkenny, who moved to Medicine Hat 18 months ago from Lethbridge, is among the fighters confirmed on the card. He is set to face American Jordan Mitchell in a heavyweight bare knuckle boxing match. Fight Night’s first foray into bare knuckle boxing was in September in Lethbridge. Fight Night 11 included seven fights, but only one bare knuckle: Bobby Brents knocked out Don Wonch. 7
