Overweight, male hockey fans from Hat wanted for health program

By Medicine Hat News on February 26, 2020.

A program run out of Ontario is targeting overweight men in Medicine Hat – and every other junior hockey market in the country – to help them get healthy.

Hockey Fans In Training is aiming to find 40 hockey fans for three months’ worth of exercise, information and motivation. Run by researchers out of Western University in London, Ont., the program began in 2014 and targets male sports fans because they’re among the most unhealthy part of the population, statistically speaking.

Anyone interested can visit hockeyfansintraining.org for more information or to sign up. The program aims to run here this summer and has partnered with the Medicine Hat Tigers and downtown YMCA to deliver both workouts and potentially behind-the-scenes experiences with the Tigers.
