The annual Panthers Indoor Classic track meet took place Saturday at the Family Leisure Centre, with almost 100 athletes in a wide age range taking part.

With divisions starting with 5-year-olds and going up to the 65-over seniors, there were more chances than ever to participate.

Sloan Loehndorf was among the 5- and 6-year-olds entered and won both the 60 metre and 150 metre mini girls events. Older sister Emma also won her 60-metre sprint, just one example among many of families entering together.

Susan Dondenu was a triple-winner, first in the 10-11 girls 60, 150 and 800 metre runs. Older sister Stephanie then won the 12-13 girls’ 60, 150 and 800, matching her haul.

A couple other multiple winners were Andrew Vis in the boys 7-9 division, claiming the 60- and 150-metre crowns. Zaynna Willoughby prevailed in both the girls 14-15 60 metre, 200 metre and 400 metre sprints, also unopposed in winning the 60 metre hurdles. Teammate Ryann Plaksey crossed the line first in the 14-15 800 and 1,200 metre runs.

Panthers coach Darryl Smith was among the older age groups taking part, though Marvin Genno got the honour of being the first in the new 65-plus division.

Both Panthers and Bulldogs clubs train at the FLC and ran relay teams to finish the day.
