Sisters medal at end of track series

It was a great day to be on the track for the Willoughby sisters Sunday.

Both Zaynna and Shyah medalled twice at the Dino Classic in Calgary, with their results catapulting them to overall medals in their respective age divisions for a three-meet indoor series.

Zaynna wound up first among 14-year-old girls, while Shyah was third in the female 11-year-old division.

Zaynna was third in both 60 metre hurdles and the 300 metre race Sunday, paired with a fourth-place finish in the 60 metre sprint. Shyah was second in both 60 and 150 sprints.

Both Panthers Track and Field Club members were there with teammates Hannah Kozakewich and Christopher Gendron. Kozakewich was fourth in 15-year-old girls’ 1,000 metre, while Gendron was eighth in the 60 metre and 11th in the 150 for 10-year-old boys.

A trio of Bulldogs club members also competed. Lexine Velez Rodriguez was 10th in the 60 metre, ninth in the 150 and seventh in the 600 for 13-year-old girls. Renae Ryan was fourth in the open women’s 60 metre and Kiana Farrell 13th in the open women’s 300.
