Rattlers men’s volleyball team fighting to stay in the playoff hunt

By Medicine Hat News on January 24, 2020.

The Medicine Hat Rattlers men’s volleyball team will be aiming to bounce back into the win column and keep their playoff hopes alive when they welcome the Briercrest Clippers to the Snake Pit tonight at 8 p.m.

The Rattlers (4-12) sit 12 points behind the Clippers (10-6) for the fourth and final playoff berths up for grabs in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference’s South Division standings with eight games left in the regular season.

Medicine Hat’s women’s volleyball team will open the evening at the Snake Pit looking to shake off a two-game slide – but they’ll have to accomplish the feat against the undefeated Clippers.

Briercrest (16-0) has lost just four sets this season, while Medicine Hat (8-8) will be looking to climb the ACAC South ladder and earn a bit of confidence ahead of their role as playoff hosts in February.

The Rattlers’ basketball teams will be on the road in Calgary to face the Ambrose Lions tonight.

Medicine Hat’s women’s squad (6-6) will be aiming to crack the .500 mark after picking up a win over Briercrest last Saturday, while the Lions have been on a 10-game slide after winning their season opener.

In the men’s game, both the Rattlers and Lions will be out to fix a losing streak. Medicine Hat (2-10) has lost four straight while the Lions dropped each of their past three games.

All four Rattlers squads will be in action at the Snake Pit Saturday, starting with the volleyball teams taking on Briercrest at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., followed by the basketball teams hosting Ambrose at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
