Cubs host top-ranked Bisons tonight

By Medicine Hat News on January 17, 2020.

The Medicine Hat Cubs will be looking for a bit of vengeance at the Kinplex tonight.

After coming up just short in a 4-3 loss to the 28-2-0 Okotoks Bisons last Sunday, the Cubs welcome the province’s top team to the Gas City for a 7:45 p.m. rematch.

The Cubs (20-8-2) are locked in a battle for second in the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Southern Division with the Cochrane Generals (20-8-2) and the Coaldale Copperheads (20-11-1), and a victory against the league’s best would go a long way in helping secure home ice to start the post-season.

Cubs alternate captain Mason Fischer is coming off a two-point performance in Sunday’s loss to Okotoks, while Riker Franczak had two goals and an assist for Okotoks and Tyson Scott followed up with a goal and two helpers.

The Cubs close out their weekend Sunday in Lomond against the Lakers at 12:30 p.m.
