Olympian to visit

By Medicine Hat News on January 9, 2020.

Members of the Medicine Hat Waves Swim Club are getting some next-level training next month from an Olympian.

Jason Block, who competed for Canada in the 2016 Rio Olympics, will come to the Crestwood Pool Feb. 8 for a private clinic as part of the Head to Head program.

“We are hoping the mentorship from an Olympian will help them to set better goals,” wrote Waves assistant coach Carla Schafer in an email. “To learn how to be tough and resilient through the training process. They need to learn that they are the ones responsible for their success, accountability.”

Block’s specialty is the breaststroke – he swam the 100 breast in Rio. As part of Head to Head, he’ll keep in touch with the Waves after the visit.
