Tigers acquire Perna from Winterhawks

By Ryan McCracken on November 28, 2019.

The Medicine Hat Tigers added some depth on defence by acquiring 18-year-old blueliner Nick Perna from the Portland Winterhawks Thursday in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2020 bantam draft.

The 6-foot-3, 183-pound Dallas, Tex. product joins the Tabbies after collecting two assists over seven games with a plus-five rating this season. Both points came in his last three contests.

Perna also suited up for 40 games with the Winterhawks last season, closing out the campaign with one goal, nine assists and a plus-one rating.

The trade is Medicine Hat’s second in just three days, following up Tuesday’s deal that sent 19-year-old forward Cyle McNabb to the Tigers from the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for a sixth-round bantam draft pick in 2021.
