Hat pickleball pair win seniors event in Arizona

A pair of Medicine Hat pickleball players had a winning result at a tournament in Phoenix this past Friday.

Keith Edwards and Gordon Masson won all three of their matches at the Marriott Desert Ridge Holiday Classic, claiming top spot in the men’s doubles 60-plus level 3.5 division event.

After a first-round bye, Edwards and Masson dropped their first set but were unbeatable after that, including a 2-0 (11-0, 11-4) win in the final over the team of Stefano Lattanzi and Kim Ballew Friday afternoon.

They also beat Lattanzi and Ballew 2-0 (11-7, 11-4) in the semifinals, forcing the losing side to come back up through the B side of the bracket and get another chance. They wound up playing five matches on the day to the three Edwards and Masson played.
