SACA hosts tournament in new facility

By Medicine Hat News on October 30, 2019.

It’s been a busy year for the Southern Alberta Combative Arts team, but Saturday’s continuous tournament was a milestone of sorts.

SACA held its first event in its new spacious facility next to Top Hat Bingo, with five local athletes competing for the first time and others showing what they’re capable of as well.

With fighters visiting from Saskatoon, Regina and Lethbridge, 14 Hat athletes answered the bell. First-time fighters Riley Sannachan, Celine Holizki and Denai Lanz all took first-place results in their debuts, while Diesel Van Ham was the other SACA winner.

Kevin Whipple had a second-place result and Sarah Alexander a third in their first tournaments.

Also with second-place results were Jesse Sandberg, Havana Pollock, Janelle Pollock and Dylan MacDougall.

Third-place results were earned by Kameron Heydlauff, Mercedes Chichenko and Joel Musgrove.

Rob Cameron had a fifth-place finish.
