Almost every year, slow pitch teams from Medicine Hat head to Utah to compete in the massive Huntsman World Senior Games.

This year, two of those teams returned home with some hardware.

Both the 60-plus and 70-plus teams found their way to the podium this past week in St. George, Utah, with the 70-plus Huff and Puffs taking second place and the 60-plus side winding up with bronze.

The 70-plus team was second in their six-team division, beat only by a squad from Bremerton, Wash. Players included Emerson Davies, Sherwin Lehman, Larry Savage, Lutz Perschon, Gordon Deibert, Steve Kakuk, Warren Schafer, Howard Gehring, Tom Corboy, Larry Lutz, Stan Aberle, Dennis Young, Jim Noon and Ernie Ambrosi.

The 60-plus team that finished third in their own six-team event included Derry Eresman, Dean Roy, Mike Ferre, Trent Rasch, Jim Cooper, Brian Stonehouse, Kerry Schentag, Larry Rudolph, Darrell Maser, Kevin Sauer, Wayne Miller, Jamie White and Tim Seitz. They beat a side from Fresno, Calif. out for the last set of medals, while a St. Albert-based team beat a Nanaimo, B.C. side for gold.
