Rough night for Rattlers teams

The Medicine Hat Rattlers women’s basketball team slipped to 0-2 on the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference season with a 67-61 loss to the rival Lethbridge Kodiaks on Friday at the Snake Pit.

Katelyn Rozdeba led the Rattlers with 17 points and 12 rebounds in the loss. Denajha Kie put up 29 points for the Kodiaks.

Lethbridge climbed to 1-1 with the win.

Men’s basketball

The Rattlers men’s basketball team met a similar fate in Friday’s finale at the Snake Pit, falling 92-80 to the Kodiaks to sit at 1-1 on the ACAC season.

Kieron Burgess powered Medicine Hat with 28 points and 22 rebounds in the setback, while Chase Bohne put up 26 points for Lethbridge.

The Kodiaks improved to 2-0 with the victory.

Women’s volleyball

MHC’s women’s volleyball team suffered a straight sets loss to the Briercrest Clippers (25-13, 25-20, 25-21) on the road Friday.

Amber Stigter led the Rattlers with five kills in the loss. Rebecca Garner powered the Clippers’ offence with 15.

The loss drops Medicine Hat to 0-3, while Breircrest improved to 3-0.

Men’s volleyball

The Rattlers men’s volleyball was also unable to steal a set in their loss to Breircrest Friday (25-19, 25-16, 25-13).

KeAndre Evans recorded a match-high 15 kills in the loss, but it wasn’t enough to steer the Rattlers back into the win column. They sit 1-2 with the setback.

Breircrest’s Karym Coleman had 12 kills to help push the Clippers to 2-1.
