Mohawks get an exhibition victory

Hat High’s Mohawks football team scored a 42-7 exhibition win Thursday over Lethbridge’s Chinook Coyotes at the Methanex Bowl.

Quarterback Brody Fink threw for 129 yards and three touchdowns, one each to Tesema Veurink, Austin Walton and Logan Wells. Veurink added a rushing major but it was Piercen Meier who had the bulk of the carries, rushing for 176 yards and two TD’s as the Mohawks improved to 5-2 overall.

Crescent Heights and McCoy-Eagle Butte are in action this weekend. The Vikings take on George McDougall in Airdrie tonight, while the Colts are at McMahon Stadium in Calgary to face Father Mercredi ( Fort McMurray) Saturday.

Rangeland Football Conference playoffs start next Friday at Methanex. Hat High will host Brooks and the Vikings will take on the Colts.

Hat High is ranked No. 6 among Tier 2 schools in Alberta, while the Vikings (4-2) are sixth among Tier 3 schools following their 25-20 victory over McCoy (4-2) last week.
