Tigers come back to top Pats

By Medicine Hat News on September 9, 2019.

The Medicine Hat Tigers dug their way out of a three-goal deficit to steal a 4-3 win from the hands of the Regina Pats on Saturday night at the Brandt Centre.

Logan Christensen snapped a power play goal past Pats goaltender Matthew Pesenti with just over three minutes remaining in regulation to complete the comeback and secure Medicine Hat’s first win of the pre-season.

Ty Kolle, Austin Pratt and Cole Dubinsky struck in succession to leave the Tigers in a 3-0 hole after 20 minutes, but the Tabbies started building momentum in the middle frame.

Caleb Willms got the comeback started with his first of the pre-season just over two minutes into the second, then Ryan Watson added his first in the dying minutes of the period to leave the Tigers within reach entering the third.

Tyler Preziuso erased the deficit less than five minutes into the third period, then Christensen pulled the rug out with Tyson Feist serving a late penalty for high sticking.

Nine different Tigers worked their way onto the scoresheet with a point apiece, while Garin Bjorklund turned away 26 shots to secure the victory.

Pesenti stopped 26 for Regina in the loss.

The Tigers hit the road to Red Deer Friday to take on the Rebels before heading to Taber Saturday to host the Calgary Hitmen.
