Blume pros fare well in Red Deer

Two Desert Blume Golf Course pros were in the money at the PGA of Alberta Championship in Red Deer.

At River Bend Golf Course, Dillon Batsel and Braden Chown were 11th and 16th, respectively in the field of 31. They both shot opening-round 69’s on the par-72 layout, then Batsel had a 72 Tuesday and Chown a 73.

Calgary’s Wes Heffernan won with rounds of 63 (a course record) and 67.

Batsel, recently named head coach of Medicine Hat College’s golf teams, earned $695 from the event while Chown got $474.
