The Manta Rays Summer Swim Club wrapped up its first season with a meet in Lethbridge this past weekend. The Region F Championships at the University of Lethbridge saw more than 250 entrants including seven from Medicine Hat, of which four made it to their respective finals. Olivia McWilliams had the best result, a fifth-place finish in under-six girls 50 metre freestyle. She was also sixth in the 50 backstroke. Jordyn Jackson made the final in 7-8 girls 50 backstroke, finishing sixth. Jackson added an 11th-place finish in 50 freestyle. Also in 7-8 girls, Lily McWilliams was eighth in 50 free, ninth in 50 back and 10th in 25 breaststroke. Masao Mori was the other finalist, eighth in the 7-8 boys’ 25 metre breast. He was also 11th in 25 back and 50 free, plus 13th in 25 free. Owen Hughes was 16th in 25 metre backstroke in the same age division. In 9-10 girls, Janessa Jackson was 11th in 50 back and 16th in 100 free. Marinn Wiens was 13th in 25 breast. The Rays will be back at it next May. 9
