The Medicine Hat Junior AAA All-Stars are one win away from another trip to nationals following a 13-5 victory over Airdrie on Friday at Kin Coulee Park.
While Medicine Hat stranded the bases loaded in each of the first two innings, they broke through in the fifth with a seven-run frame to seize control of Game 1 in their best-of-three Junior Little League divisional series. The winner advances to the Canadian Little League Championship in Lethbridge.
Kevan Schafer picked up the win with 5 2/3 innings of solid ball, while Jeff Bullock, Caleb Garrecht and Trevin Ressler all had two hits on offence. Bullock also reached base five times in the victory.
