Mavericks win marathon in Okotoks featuring 11 pitching changes

By Medicine Hat News on July 18, 2019.

In a game that felt like it would go on forever, the Medicine Hat Mavericks beat the Okotoks Dawgs 11-8 Wednesday night.

Both teams’ starting pitchers got pulled early in the nearly four-hour affair at Seaman Stadium, and bullpens were taxed to the breaking point. Medicine Hat used seven pitchers, the last being Austin Oulds who stuck out Jacob Melton with the bases loaded to end the evening.

Colton Wright went 4-for-5 with three runs, extending his hitting streak to seven games.

Nate Stark had the best night of any pitcher, striking out six in three innings for his hometown Mavericks.

Okotoks used six hurlers and got a 3-for-5, 2 RBI night from Davis Tododischuk.

The teams are at Athletic Park tonight for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
