Miners response too much for Hat

By Medicine Hat News on July 3, 2019.

A great start from the K of C Knights was matched Tuesday by the Lethbridge Miners.

At Athletic Park, the Knights scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, but wound up on the losing end of an 8-7 decision.

A six-run Miners second inning was the perfect response, aided by a hit batter, three walks and an error.

Medicine Hat made it interesting, with Cole Rath and Evan Morrison each singling and scoring in the bottom of the seventh to make it a one-run game. But it wasn’t enough in the first half of a doubleheader, the second game of which wasn’t over by press time.

Lethbridge’s Tate Pearce went 3 2/3 innings, getting five strikeouts for the win despite letting up five runs on four hits. Jack Didack took the loss for Medicine Hat, charged with all eight runs although three weren’t earned in his three innings of work.

Noah Leblue went 3-for-3 for the Miners, who got 3 RBI from Lucas Puszkar.
