More than 200 kids took part in the Run Jump and Throw track meet Friday at Medicine Hat’s Rotary Track, and a few managed to set new records while earning medals. Among the multiple gold medallists, three athletes set new marks that other youngsters will try and beat in future years. Nevaeh Ross of Vincent Massey school won the girls 9-10 50 and 100 metre dashes as well as standing long jump, setting a new meet record of 1.94 metres in the latter. Mother Teresa’s Adriene Campbell won girls 11-12 200 metre dash in a record 30.97 seconds, then followed up with 400 metre and ball throw victories. Zaynna Willoughby (Crescent Heights) won the 13-14 girls 100 and 200 sprints plus the long jump with a record 4.43-metre leap. Other multiple-gold winners included: – Madison Pullman (St. John Paul II) won both 100 and long jump in girls 11-12. – Lyndon Sherwick (St. Michael’s) first in 7-8 boys 50 and 100 metre dashes. – Dr. Roy Wilson’s Cash Benallack won the 400 metre and ball throw in 7-8 boys. – In 9-10 boys, Cole Balderston of Vincent Massey won the 50 and 100. – Kingston Haaf of St. Patrick’s won the 9-10 boys ball throw and 400 metre. – Notre Dame’s Rohan Thapa doubled up with 100 and 200 wins in 11-12 boys. – Micah Klein of the Panthers club team won both 11-12 boys 400 and 800 runs. – In 13-14 boys, Crescent Heights’ Justin Kosmick won both the 100 and 200 metres. – Also in 13-14 boys, Clark Campbell (St. Mary’s) won the ball throw and long jump. 16
