Medicine Hat Tigers winger Cole Sillinger celebrates after scoring his first career goal against the Edmonton Oil Kings on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the Canalta Centre. Sillinger has been invited to a national under-17 development camp in Calgary in July.

Up-and-coming Medicine Hat Tigers forward Cole Sillinger is among 112 players invited to a national under-17 development camp in Calgary next month – the first step in potentially playing at Canalta Centre in red and white instead of orange and black this fall.

Sillinger, who played four regular season and six playoff games with the Tigers as a 15-year-old this past season, is expected to be at the WinSport centre in Calgary July 19-26 for the week-long camp, which will include on- and off-ice training, fitness testing, games and classroom studies.

Ex-Tigers manager Brad McEwen is Hockey Canada’s head scout for the camp, from which Canada will choose players for the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge Nov. 2-9 in Medicine Hat and Swift Current. Canada ices three teams at the event so there are 66 spots up for grabs.
