Hatters consistent

Michael Valk and Mitchell Kurtz were consistent through the final round of the Alberta Open Thursday, finishing in the top 20 among amateurs at the major golf tournament.

Valk put up a 2-over 74 at Trestle Creek near Edmonton to finish 7-over for the tournament, 11th among amateurs and 20th including the pros.

Kurtz shot 4-over 76 and was 10-over in the 54-hole event, 18th among amateurs and 28th overall.

Camrose’s Andrew Harrison ran away with the amateur title at 14-under, while Riley Fleming needed a playoff to beat Mitchell Fox for the pro win.
