It’ll be Hat High and McCoy in the high school soccer final next Monday after the Mohawks won their semifinal against the combined Crescent Heights and Eagle Butte team Wednesday.

At the Methanex Bowl with a few dozen fans in attendance, the two semifinalists were locked in a 1-1 draw at halftime before Hat High turned on the pressure, scoring five goals in the second half for a 6-1 win.

After each team hit the football crossbar just above the soccer goal, Kenton Ast of Crescent Heights made a long run behind the defence and scored to open the scoring.

Hamza Alamarish of Hat High got behind the defence and made no mistake on a great long feed to tie things. It turned out to be the first of six unanswered goals.

McCoy earned a bye to the final by taking the regular season crown.
